KFUPM Inbound Summer Research Program - Summer Semester 253

This program is open to non-KFUPM students, whether undergraduate or high school (Grade 11 and 12) levels, during the summer.

Objectives

The objectives of this program are to:

  1. Enhance students' research capabilities through early engagement in a university research environment.
  2. Expose students to cutting-edge research and advanced research methods.
  3. Develop valuable research skills beyond the classroom.
  4. Attract talented students to pursue undergraduate/graduate studies at KFUPM
  5. Help students discover their research interests and shape future career aspirations. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-KFUPM students, including high school (Grade 11 & 12) and undergraduate students.

  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in research and a specific research area.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA requirement (for high school students: secondary school grade: 99% & Qudurat: 95%), and (for UG students: cumulative GPA: 3.5 or higher out of 4.0 )

  • Identify and contact a KFUPM faculty/researcher, get his approval to be as your advisor.

Application Requirements

  1. A recent copy of the transcript
  2. CV

  4. Proposal (in English)
  5. Two letters of recommendation (in English) from a faculty (for UG students) and from science and math teachers (for high school students)

All documents should be submitted online before 8:00 am (UTC) - Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on academic merit, research interests, and alignment with faculty research.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.

Duration and Venue

  1. The program will run for 8 consecutive weeks (40 hours/week) during the summer session 253 ) - From 14 June to 6 August 2026.
  2. The program  will be hosted on KFUPM campus

Accomplishment and Assessment

At the end of the program,

2. The participant should prepare a poster/presentation on his research for participation in the KFUPM Summer Research Program Exhibit Day at the end of summer 253.

Participants will be paired with a KFUPM faculty mentor who will guide them throughout the research experience.
